This photograph published in The Observer newspaper, 28 February 1920 page 26.

Historical information

Thomas Giles was born at Penzance, Cornwall, on 8 October 1846 and travelled with his parents to South Australia on the ship 'Adamant' in 1864.

Martha Williamson was born in Lincolnshire, England, in 1849 and travelled to South Australia with her parents, John and Mary, on the ship 'Agincourt' in 1850.

Thomas and Martha had 11 children: Charles (1870), William (1872), Mary (1874), George (1877), Alice (1879), Ethel (1881), Eliza (1884), Eleanor (1886-1886), Herbert (1887-1888), Claude (1889), Emily (1893).
