Summary

Distant view of the jetty at Beachport in South Australia. According to a researcher, the house was known as Rivoli House. Built c.1879 for Mr. A.S. Smith, manager of the Adelaide shipping company, before being owned by Mr. Edward French [see also at PRG 280/1/15/162].

General notes

The house was later owned by shipping agent, E.J. French until early 1900s when it became the residence of the South East Drainage Board manager until vacated in c.1940s. It was demolished in 1972 after years of neglect to make way for the local fishermen's Beachport Boatyard.
