Peake, Premier of South Australia sits front row, third from the left with Mrs Seager, co-founder of the Cheer-Up Society seated on his right. Mrs. Peake sits third from the right, next to Sir William Sowden, centre, Arthur Blackburn, Victoria Cross winner and lawyer sits second from the right. Lt Colonel James Slane is standing on the far left of the back row.

Historical information

The Cheer-Up Society was formed by Mrs Seager and Sir William Sowden in 1914 to provide general comfort, welfare, and entertainment for soldiers; it started from a tent which was replaced by the Hut in 1915.
