Summary

The caption to the photograph when published in a British magazine read, "Those who wait and do not understand - stray dogs at the Battersea Dogs' Home. Battersea Dogs' Home is being taxed to its full capacity, for hundreds of stray dogs have arrived there during the last few days, and every one has to kept for seven days before he goes to the lethal chamber. So he has just one week to live, and hope that someone may adopt him and take him home before he is killed. Many of the dogs are genuine strays, others have been turned adrift by heartless owners on account of the new muzzling order."
