Summary

The 2,509 ton R.M.S. Asturias of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company under the command of Captain J.D. Spooner arriving at Outer Harbor on Monday 2 March 1908. The largest steamer built in Great Britain during 1907, Asturias was on her maiden voyage to Australia. From London, Asturias had called at Marseilles, Naples, Colombo and Freemantle. Of the 631 passengers 67 were booked for Adelaide, including Captain W.B. Knox, Commander J.C.T. Glossop R.N., Messrs F. Brown, J.S. Brunton, C. Payne, D. Kingsland, W. L. Taylor, E.H. Woolls, A.M. Stewart, J.C. williamson, A.H.Aitken, F.G. Sargood, Bromley, Mr and Mrs Tillottson, Rev. P. Flemming, and Misses McLennan. A steam driven bucket dredge and No.2 dump barge operated by the Harbors Board are on right of the photograph.
