Historical information

John Henry Chinner was a cartoonist and churchman, who was educated at Prince Alfred College, later becoming it's secretary. He worked as the manager at the Atlas Insurance Company for 31 years, retiring in February 1925; his cartoons and sketches appeared in Adelaide publications as well as 'The Bulletin" and th London 'Punch'; and he was the leader of the Parkside Methodist Sunday School for 40 years, retiring from this position on 1st August 1926. Chinner also served on the Unley Council for 16 years, serving as mayor on five occasions; and was a foundation member and skipper of the Sturt Bowling Club.
