Smith, Keith Macpherson, Sir, 18 April 1922, Manuscript, PRG 18/36/8
Message of sympathy from General Henry George (Harry) Chauvel (1865-1945) to Andrew Smith. The message reads, "Dear Mr. Smith, I desire to express to you and Mrs. Smith the sincere sympathy of Ross's comrades of the Cavalry who fought in Sinai, Palestine and Syria, in your great loss. Your son, originally one of us and a member of my own old Brigade, had already established a reputation for gallantry and ability when he transferred to the Flying Corps and his subsequent career was watched with the greatest interest and admiration. It was a great blow to us all when it was brought to such a sudden and untimely end."
