When the river Darling is high in a wet year, a large quantity of wool is lightered down stream in barges. In dry and ordinary years the bulk comes to Broken Hill by camel trains.

On New Year's Day 1915, two Turks fired on a picnic train going to Silverton and killed one or two people and wounded others. After a long chase by the police and citizens they ambushed themselves behind these rocks, and fired on the Police, and were finally killed.

Steam trams which ran to North, and South Broken Hill and Railway Town.

Steeple at back, (Methodist Citadel)Sulphide Street Church. The Monument was erected in memory of the bandsmen on the 'Titanic' who played 'Nearer my God to Thee' as the ill fated liner took the final plunge.
