Summary

Thank you card from Lord and Lady Casey, Governor General of Australia, sent from Government House, Canberra, to Norma Clara Rungie for her Christmas message. With handwritten note: 'and with all good wishes to you. Casey'. Caption on back: 'Norma Clara Rungie as Mayoress of Walkerville wrote numerous letters to various people of note, wishing them well. She kept all the replies, which formed a significant collection. This is the only letter to survive'.

Historical information

Norma Clara Mueller was born 6 June 1882, eldest child of Adolph Emanuel Mueller and wife Pauline Emma Helene (nee Schroeder). She married Frederick Louis Rungie (formerly Runge) on 8 October 1912, and they had two sons, Maxton Koeppen Rungie (1914-1975) and Robert Hayward (1916-1977). Frederick Louis Rungie served as Mayor of Walkerville from 1948-1951. Norma Clara Rungie died 21 October 1975.
