Summary

Caption: 'When the Glenelg jetty blew away, April 1948. The 'Barcoo' in trouble'. The HMAS 'Barcoo', a 1420 tonne survey frigate, which was driven ashore just north of Glenelg after a gale tore through Adelaide in the early hours of Sunday 11 April 1948. The storm caused a lot of damage, wrecking boats, unroofing houses, uprooting trees, and sections of the Brigton and Glenelg jetties were swept away. The 'Barcoo' was later refloated. Original photograph: black and white print, 6.5 x 8.9 cm.
