General notes

Mount: 19.5 x 25.0 cm.

A Vickers Vulcan, possibly this one, was delivered to Melbourne for QANTAS via the steamer Coo-ee in February 1923. At the time it was the largest aircraft in Australia. In March 1923 it was flown from Melbourne to Longreach where testing revealed it lacked the 'climb performance' necessary to ensure successful operation in Western Queensland. It was returned to the manufacturer. A second aircraft intended for delivery to QANTAS was scrapped prior to completion.
