Summary

Wedding portrait of Bill Embery, in soldiers uniform, and his bride Hazel Tonkin. Hazel's white dress has short sleeves and a long train. She is wearing elbow-length gloves and holding a bouquet. She has a pearl necklace and a wreath of flowers in her hair, attached to her veil. They were married at Moonta Methodist Church on 2 September 1944, by Rev. C. Smith. Inscription on inside cover reads: 'To Marg, with love from Hazel and Bill, 1944'. Given by Hazel to her friend Margaret Phylis Cameron.

William (Bill) John Embery, born 19 July 1910 in Exeter, England, second son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Embery, served with the A.I.F. during the Second World War, service number SX 13559. Hazel Alice Tonkin, born in 1918, youngest daughter of Harry Inman Hardy Tonkin and his wife Edith May Downing (nee Phillips) of Moonta.
