A group portrait of instructors at the Australian Corps School (formerly the 1st Anzac Corps School), formed on 11 November 1916, at Aveluy in France. Back row, left: Lieutenant McKenzie, possibly Lieutenant Kenneth James David McKenzie, 21st Reinforcement, 7th Battalion, who was seconded for duty with the first Anzac Corps School in November 1917; back row, centre: Lieutenant Aldred Nelson Baldry, 5th Reinforcements, 53rd Battalion; back row, right: Lieutenant James Newson McAnna, 1st Reinforcements, 43rd Battalion; seated, left: Captain William Charles Scurry, MC, DCM, 8th Reinforcements, 7th Battalion, awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1916 for inventing the self-firing rifle, and awarded the Military Cross in 1917; seated, front; Lieutenant Arthur Bruce Durdin, MC, 11th Reinforcements, 27th Battalion, awarded the Military Cross in 1917.
