General notes

This photograph is part of a series taken by Alwin Clements in the course of his work in the field of Electrophotography.

Historical information

The entire factory contained 1,405 buildings and a staff of between 3,000 and 6,000, with the Munitions Supply Laboratories occupying one or two buildings with a staff of around 17. It is thought that the Lab probably provided quality analysis and process suggestions. During the years 1940-1945 the Factory Laboratory occupied building no.6, with the Chemical Inspection Laboratory in building no.11.
