Summary

Two women with a man standing in a garden near the porch of a house. A researcher has provided the following information: Winifred Thorpe (left) with her parents David and Annie Thorpe, standing in front of their house 'Steboneath' at 32 Barr Smith Ave, Glen Osmond, where they lived from the 1920s until approximately 1959. The house 'Steboneath' was offered for sale by auction on 13 February 1965 as part of a parcel of land bordered by Barr Smith Ave, Riverdale Rd, and Ferguson Ave, owned by the Thorpe family. It has since been demolished. David Edwin Watts Thorpe (centre) was born on 16 March 1878 at Parkside and worked in the Thorpe family grocery business started by his father, Edwin Thorpe, and carried on by his widowed mother Eliza Thorpe. The business E. Thorpe & Sons, Expert Caterers, Glen Osmond Rd, Parkside, was established in 1874 and closed in 1947.
