Records of the Reverend Arthur M. Trengove comprising lantern slides, glass plate negatives and nitrate negatives of logging and scrub rolling, reaping and agricultural scenes, including working horses. Also including images of Aboriginal families of the Eyre Peninsula area, photographed by Rev. Trengove at this time. Illustrated slides including published images
Records of the Reverend Arthur M. Trengove comprising colour lantern slides of illustrated cartoons. Some were possibly hand painted and some were made from engraved designs. Most were likely used during church services or presentations and for teaching purposes. The slides have a circular frame imbeded in the illustration. Some slides have 'B&S patent' or 'Canadian lecture, Copyright' inscribed in the image, which would relate to the slide's production. There are four cartoon sequences including the following; 1. a five slide cartoon version of the Cinderella fairytale, 2. a six slide cartoon sequence with turkish or eastern interior and figures, 3. a seven slide cartoon sequence of a ship and crew during a shipwreck, 4. a 12 slide sub series relating to shipping (The Fram) and exploration (Jackson and Nansen). The family hiking day series is most likely to be in the Flinders Ranges in proximity to the Alligator Gorge or Beetaloo Reservoir area. There are also images of the Trengove children, Miss Rosalie and Master Ronald at various stages of age. Trengove has carefully posed many of the images and has made an effort to create interesting scenes for his family subjects, which also include details in the background like landscapes or houses and fences. There are items of interest including a wooden and metal gas lantern slide projector and wooden frames for the slides, used in projection. There is a decorative light projection device with what could be described as, a prism/kaleidoscope light refractor, which most likely would have been used for creating patterned and coloured light presentations.
