Summary

Jack Hockley with his canoe 'Fury' on over-night stop at Second Valley on his solo trip back from Kangaroo Island. See The Mail, 18 March 1939 page 7 (via Trove Newspapers). He crossed from Hog Bay (Penneshaw) to Cape Jervis and then paddled up the coast to Glenelg.

Historical information

Jack Hockley was born in Adelaide 3 September 1917 and died in Victoria 9 December 2000, aged 83 years. He was a successful automotive design engineer and helped design the AP5 model Valiant car with Chrysler, S.A. He moved to Geelong in 1963 to work for International Harvester and was chief design engineer on their ACCO series truck. (information supplied by a researcher).
