Notebook used by Samuel Hubbe in his capacity as Government Arbitrator for Pastoral Lands. Started 3 January 1888, the first entry records 'valuations are to shew position, date of erection, name of lessee and value at date of inspection ... memoranda of town prices for work and material'. Elsewhere he records details such as costs of 'railway transport of material', 'life of a boiler in which good material only is used', costs of rabbit proof fencing, copy of invoice, quotations, and a draft offering an 'opinion re siltage of Reservoirs, etc'.
