General notes

The 44 photographs around Riverton were taken by Riverton photographer Edwin Scholz (1881-1952). He may have taken some or most of the others in this important collection as he is known to have taken photographs in different parts of South Australia ca.1900-1920. He was a regular and successful exhibitor in the photographic section of local shows, usually entering scenic photographs in the 'under half-plate', 'over half-plate' and 'postcard' classes. Some of the shows where he is known to have won prizes were: Auburn, 1905 to 1908; Saddleworth, 1906 and 1907; Clare, 1919 and 1920.
