Summary

The steel barque 'Ancenis', 1833 tons, in an unidentified port. [steel barque 1833 tons, ON99432, 257.6 x 39.0 x 22.7. Built 1892 (8) Russell and Co. Greenoch as 'Lillian L. Robbins' for RK Kelley, registered Yarmouth, NS then purchased about 1899 by GT Soley and Co. of Liverpool and renamed, registration left at Yarmouth. c.1909 sold Norway without change of name. c.1920 renamed 'Staut'. Drops from registers in mid 1920s and said to have been sold for scrap and broken up at Ardrossan, Scotland early in 1925.]

One of the ships owned by G.T. Soley and Co. LTD., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
