Summary

The iron barque 'British Princess', 1544 tons, after being renamed 'Louise'. [British Princess iron ship later made into barque, 1231 tons, 1875 = 1544 tons , ON51435 lengthened in 1875 - 246.7 x 36.7 x 22.8. Built 1865 (1) G R Clover and Co. Birkenhead. Owners British Shipowners Co. Ltd registered Liverpool 1883. Gracie, Beazley and Co. reg. Liverpool later became the German owned Lousie].

One of the ships owned by The British Line / British Shipowners Co. Ltd., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
