Summary

The steel ship 'Glenelvan', 1919 tons, at anchor [steel ship 1919 tons. ON102567, 265.4 x 23.1. Built 1895 (5) A Rodger and Co. Port Glasgow. Owners: Sterling and Co. Registered Glasgow, later Ship Glenelvan Co. (GM Steeves and Co.) c.1908 sold German owners and renamed 'Gluckstadt'] [The caption and tonnage as shown i.e. 'Glenelvan' ship, 1919 tons, describes a ship never owned by De Wolf but a steel vessel built in 1895 named 'Glenelvan' - De Wolf's vessel was named 'Glenalvon'].

One of the ships owned by J.R. and C.E. De Wolf and Co., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
