Summary

The iron ship 'Sierra Cadena', 1913 tons, in an unidentified port [iron ship, 1913 tons, ON87955, 268.1 x 42.1 x 24.0. Built 1884 (3) T Royden and Sons, as 'Calistoga' for Nevins, Welsh and Co., registered Liverpool, sold and renamed 'Sierra Cadena' by Thompson, Anderson and Co. (Sierra Shipping Co.) registered Liverpool c.1909 sold to Norway and renamed 'Prince George' c.1920 became the Danish 'Svedana' and broken up 1925].

One of the ships owned by The Sierra Line / Thompson, Anderson and Co., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
