Summary

The iron barque 'Peru', 683 tons, docked at Port Chalmers [also known as 'Louisa Craig'] [iron barque, 710 tons, ON75188, 182.4 x 30.1 x 17.8. Built 1876 (8) J Key and Sons, Kinghorn, Owners: JW Robertson, registered Dundee. c.1885 J Stewart and Co., registered Dundee. 1907 sold to J Craig and Co, and renamed 'Louisa Craig' and registered at Auckland. In October 1916 renamed 'Raupo' and became the property of GH Scales (of Wellington). 1923 Canterbury Steam Shipping Co. Ltd. and hulked in 1922-3, and register closed in 1929].

One of the ships owned by John Stewart and Co., London.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
