Summary

The four masted steel barque 'Norma', 2122 tons, docked in an unidentified port [steel 4 mast barque, 2122 tons, ON98433, 278.0 x 41.2 x 24.1. Built 1893 (5) Barclay, Curle and Co. Ltd., Glasgow. Owners: Norma Ship Co., MJ Begg, registered Cardiff, later MacVicar, Marshall and Co., registered Cardiff. Run down and sunk by Ardencraig April 20, 1907 while at anchor off the Semaphore, Port Adelaide].

One of the ships owned by McVicar, Marshall and Co., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
