Summary

The four masted iron barque 'Drumcliff', 2525 tons, under sail [iron 4 mast ship, later 4 mast barque. 2525 tons, ON93713, 311.3 x 43.2 x 24.2. Built 1887 (1) Russell and Co. Greenock. Owners Gillison and Chadwick. Registered Liverpool. c.1900 became the German Omega and later the Peruvian vessel of the same name. When she foundered June 26, 1958 it was said she had been the last square rigged sailing ship actually in trade].

One of the ships owned by the Drum Line / Gillison and Chadwick, Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
