'Orkney' iron barque. [iron 3 mast barque, 287 gross, 247 net tons. 141.2 x 25.0 x 11.6. Built 1872 (5) A Stephen and Sons, Glasgow for London owners and named 'Belle of the Niger', ON65698. Then became 'Villy', then 'Brener', before 'Orkney'. As 'Orkney' was owned in Norway until c.1918 when sold to Danes]

Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
