Summary

'Germaine' steel barque 1930 tons [steel 3 mast barque, 1930 tons, gross and net tons. 260.0 x 39.4 x 22.1. Built 1900 (7) Forges and C de La Medit. Havre. Owners: Cie Havraise de Nav. registered Havre. Originally named 'Ville de Belfort'. NB This vessel is listed as Danish but it appears to have been an error. Sometimes the British vessel 'Oakhurst' q.v. that became Danish later in life is reported to have been known as 'Germaine' for a brief period before demolition in the mid 1920's. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
