Summary

'Selwyn Craig' iron barquentine 486 tons [iron 3 mast barque, 531 gross, 486 net tons. ON58966, 154.0 x 28.0 x 17.4 Built 1868 Dobie and Co., Glasgow. as 'Advancement' for Doward Dickson and Co,, registered Liverpool. Sold in 1895, she became the Norwegian 'Prince John' and was acquired in 1905 by JJ Craig, registered Auckland and renamed 'Selwyn Craig'. Sold in 1911 to the Union SS Co. of New Zealand Ltd., she was converted into a hulk. The hulk sank in October 1919 in Auckland and was demolished by explosives in September 1922]

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
