'Lady Belmore' wooden brigantine 254 tons [wooden 2 mast brigantine, 254 tons, ON59507. 114.6 x 26.0 x 13.8. Built 1868 Robert Cox, Bribane Water, NSW. Owners: Robert Cox, registered Sydney: Feb. 1876 George Fisher, registered Launceston. April 1880 Kate Powell, registered Maryborough, Queensland. Wrecked when driven from her anchors at Flat Top Island, off Mackay, Queensland March 8, 1882, the press reporting her loss said '...lately sold to P Graham and Co. Maryborough'] NB. note from Ron Parsons 'there is no apparent reason why this vessel should appear in a collection of New Zealand owned vessels'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
