Summary

The wooden ketch 'Osprey', 38 tons, in an unidentified harbour [wooden 2 mast barge rigged, ON57524, 38 tons, 65.5 x 17.5 x 5.3 built 1871 Hobart. Owners: from Feb. 1873 William Bundy, registered Port Adelaide. April 1877 J Leask, later in partnership with WB Corstan and Rendell. 1890 = SJ Bishop. Missing and supposed to have foundered. Sailed from Port Julia Sept. 11, 1903 and not seen again. See 'Ketches of South Australia' 3rd edition, 1978]

From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
