Summary

The wooden ketch 'Sailor Prince', 34 tons, at Port Adelaide ['Sailor Prince' = wooden 2 mast schooner, ON57497, 40 tons, 63.0 x 17.9 x 5.6 Built 1868 Huon River, Tasmania. Owners in Hobart Oct. 1870 Alexander Reid, registered Port Adelaide; by 1875 M Irvine and Peter Le Messurier, and later Irvine and other partners. Altered to an auxiliary schooner in 1925 = 45 gross, 36 net tons. Last owner was MP Irvine. Wrecked when sunk after a collision with TSMV 'Manunda' in Port Adelaide October 3, 1929]

From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
