Summary

From left to right, the wooden ketch 'Mary', 33 tons, and the wooden ketch 'Young Foster', 15 tons, at Port Adelaide in 1889. [Mary = wooden 2 mast ketch, ON74774, 28 tons. 50.8 x 15.2 x 5.0. Built 1876 Daniel Dineen, Port Adelaide, lengthened 1885 = 33 tons. 63.0 x 15.4 x 5.1. Auxiliary motor installed 1925 = 35 gross, 27 net tons. Owners: Daniel Dineen, registered Port Adelaide by 1919 ME Morris and AHT Kruse. Sold to Dutch owners in 1951 and register closed. According to official records she was wrecked Antechamber Bay, Kangaroo Island, August 1, 1951. From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
