Summary

The Aux. wooden schooner 'Aneiura'. 1658 tons, in an unidentified port. [wooden auxiliary twin screw four mast schooner. 1704 gross tons, 1328 net tons. British Official number 153923. 236.5 x 42.0 x 29.0. Built 1918 J. Robertson, Benica California and named 'Oronite' (not US Oronite as on some captions) twin diesal engines, 110 nhp. Owners: c.1926 EC Sharpe, registered Panama, 1928 Southern Cross Shipping Co. Pty.Ltd. Registered Melbourne. Register closed 1933 'Broken up'. (NB the vessel does not appear to have been registered in USA)].

From the volume titled 'Australian Owned Sailing Vessels'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
