Summary

The wooden ketch 'Wave', 91 tons, in an unidentified harbour (possibly Sydney Harbour) [wooden 2 mast ketch, 91 tons, ON112545, 85.5 x 24.8 x 7.6. Built 1902 Rock, Davis, Brisbane Water, NSW in 1916/17. Auxiliary diesel fitted 78bhp, 7 knots, 97gross, 60 net tons. Owners: Rock Davis (thence executors of his estate) registered Sydney: 1916 Arthur H Hassell, registered Port Adelaide. Stranded Sandy Straits, between Fraser Island and the mainland, Queensland, and became a total loss. Register closed July 1919. (Salvaged and repaired, and registered as 'Wetona' see Port of Maryborough, Parsons, 1976).

From the volume titled 'Australian Owned Sailing Vessels'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
