The iron barquentine 'Lapwing', 747 tons in an unidentified port [iron barquentine (from about 1897 - formerly barque rigged) 747 gross and net tons. ON62609. 189.0 x 30.8 x 19.1 Built 1870 (4) Iliff, Mounsey and Co., Sunderland. Owners: (originally named 'Juno' and built for owners in Newcastle-upon-Tyne) then, after renaming was owned in Liverpool. In 1897 sold to Norway and re-rigged].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Coasters'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'.
