Summary

The iron 4 masted ship 'Falls of Dee', 1974 tons, in an unidentified harbour [iron 4 mast ship, 1974 tons. ON85935. 276.7 x 41.0 x 23.7. Built 1882 (4) Russell and Co. Greenock. Owners: Ship Falls of Dee Ltd. (Wright and Breakenridge) registered Glasgow, later Wright, Graham and Co. and lastly, under the British flag, Sphere Shipping Co. (J Heron and Co, managers) c.1910 sold to Norway and renamed 'Teie'. Became a war casualty in April 1917].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Ships (IV) Masted Barques and Ships'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
