Summary

The steel ship 'Templemore', 1717 tons, moored in an unidentified port [steel ship, 1717 tons, ON94214. 258.7 x 38.2 x 23.1. Built 1890(7) Russell and Co., Port Glasgow. Owners: Sailing Ship 'Templemore' Ltd. (Thomson, Dickie and Co.) registered Glasgow. Wrecked March 2, 1893. After striking ice the vessel was abandoned in a sinking condition. Was on a voyage from Wallaroo to England with wheat].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Ships (I)'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
