Summary

The iron barque 'Glengaber', 689 tons, at anchor [iron 3 mast barque, 689 tons ON58961, 172.6 x 30.1 x 19.3. Built 1868 (10) R Williamson and Son, Harrington. Owners: Richard Johnston, registered Liverpool, later Johnston, Sproule and Co. Renamed 'Ohr' and owned by R Hansen, Oslo. Lost in collision off Lundy Island, Bristol Channel, 10 September 1899 on a voyage from Cardiff towards Bahia with coal].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Barques (III)'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
