Summary

The steel barque 'Dalblair', 1629 tons, after being wrecked [steel single screw steamship, ON149413, 4608 gross, 2810 net tons. 406.5 x 54.1 x 24.7. Built 1926 (8) Scott's SB and E Co. Ltd. Greenock. Triple expansion recip steam eng. 442 nhp by shipbuilder. Owners United States Nav. Co. Ltd (Campbell Bros and Co) registered Newcastle upon Tyne]. A researcher states: 'Think you have the wrong vessel. This should be Dalblair of 1895, built by Ailsa Shipbuilding at Troon, ON 105965,went ashore 1902 at Point de Esny, Mahebourg harbour'.

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Barques (II)'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
