Summary

The iron barque 'British Yeoman', 1953 tons, in San Francisco Bay during December [iron ship, later barque, 1953 tons. ON81391. 269.2 x 39.8 x 24.2. Built 1880 (7) Oswald, Mordaunt and Co. Southampton. Owners: British Shipowners Ltd. reg. Liverpool c. 1900 became the Italian ship Stefano Razeto and about 1909 was acquired by the British Yeoman Ship Co. Ltd and reverts to original name, registered at Victoria, BC. Captured and sunk 26 February 1917 by the raider Seeadler (Former Pass of Bahama) commanded by Von Luckner].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Barques (II)'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
