Summary

The wooden barque 'Dilkoosh', 816 tons, in an unidentified port [composite 3 mast barque. 835 tons, 816 net tons. ON48694. 167.2 x 32.4 x 21.2. Built 1864 (1) Major, London. Owners John Fleming, registered London later John Lidgett. c.1881 sold to J&R Grant and renamed Inveravon, registered London. Later became the German Gotha. Builder was J Major. As the German Gotha she was damaged on a voyage Hamburg-Rosario and was condemned and hulked at Rosario in August 1898] [Inveravon - composite ship of 1864 - formerly 'Dilkoosh' which see for full details].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Wooden Barques'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
