Summary

The steel ship 'Thornliebank', 2105 tons, under sail and 119 days out of Philadelphia. She was kerosene laden and leaking for 90 days. The photograph was taken from the SS Monowai [steel ship 2105 tons, ON106033. 269.7 x 40.5 x 23.6. Built 1896 (9) Russell and Co. Port Glasgow. Owners: A Weir and Co., registered Glasgow. Wrecked in November 1913].

One of the ships owned by The Bank Line / Andrew Weir and Co., Glasgow.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'.
