Summary

The four masted iron barque 'Tinto Hill', 2144 tons, anchored in an unidentified port [iron 4 mast barque, 2144 tons, ON95082, 283.1 x 40.5 x 24.6 Built 1888 (8) Russell and Co., Port Glasgow. Owners: JR Dickson and Co., registered Glasgow, later JM Campbell and Son. 'Scottish Hill Line' x.1906 to Norway without change of name then in 1914 went to other Norwegians who renamed her 'Alonso', sold again in 1926 she became 'Vierland' and went to the breakers in 1927].

One of the ships owned by The Glasgow Hill Line / J.M. Campbell and Sons, Glasgow.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
