The iron barque 'Lady Elizabeth', 1208 tons, under sail [iron barque, 1208 tons, ON81576, 223.0 x 35.0 x 21.4. Built 1879 (6) R Thompson junior, Sunderland. Owners: J Wilson, registered London 1884. GS Karran, registered Castletown, Isle of Man, c.1906 to Norway without change of name]. According to a researcher, The 'Lady Elizabeth' currently lies in the Falkland Islands near Port Stanley. Arrived in Port Stanley with hull damage in 1913. Hulked. Abandoned 1936. Reference: International Register of Historic Ships 1993.

One of the ships owned by G.C. Karran, Castletown.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
