Summary

The wooden barque 'Hazel Holme', 405 tons, moored in Port Louis, Mauritius. [wooden 3 mast barque, 422 tons. ON58782, 138.9 x 28.5 x 17.5. Built 1870 (5) T Turnbull and Son, Whitby as 'King Arthur' for their own use (vessel had iron beams which has given rise to the mistaken impression she was composite built) C.1880 to Hine Bros, and renamed 'Hazel Holme' and registered Liverpool by 1886 sold to owners in Valparaiso].

One of the ships owned by The Holme Fleet / Hine Brothers, Maryport.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
