The four masted steel barque 'Chiltonford', 2348 tons, at anchor. [Norwegian 4 mast barque, see also Chile] [steel 4 mast barque. 2348 tons, ON99866, 298.8 x 44.0 x 24.5. Built 1892 (12) Fairfield shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Glasgow. Owners: Chiltonford Ship Co. Ltd. (Briggs, Harvie and Co) registered Glasgow, later the managers of the Chiltonford Ship Company became D. Corsar and Sons and later J. Hardie and Co. Sold 1915 to Norway and was renamed Chile. Does not appear to have survived WW1.]

One of the ships owned by Hardie's Fleet / J. Hardie and Co., Glasgow.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
