Summary

The four masted steel barque 'Marion Josiah', 2394 tons, at anchor [steel 4 mast barque, 2394 tons, ON99837, 295.0 x 43.0 x 24.1. Built 1892 (7) Charles Connell and Co., Glasgow. Owners: Rogers and Co., registered Glasgow. c.1905 sold and became the French 'Tijuca' of AD Bordes, registered Dunkirk] [Note from Parsons 'NB. The same owners of this vessel had an earlier ship of this name, afloat about the same time, but a smaller vessel"].

One of the ships owned by The 'Marion' Line / Rogers and Co., Glasgow.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
