Summary

The four masted iron barque 'Reliance', 2631 tons, at anchor [iron 4 mast barque, 2631 tons, ON87937, 313.7 x 42.3 x 24.9. Built 1884 (1) WH Potter and Son, Liverpool: owners: WT Dixon and Sons, registered Liverpool, later CW Corsar. Badly burnt in Iquique in 1907, abandoned as constructive total loss. The hull was purchased and refitted and renamed 'Ricart de Soler' under Chilean flag. Sold 1917 she became 'Iberia' under Spanish colours. Broken up in 1924].

One of the ships owned by C.W. Corsar, Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
