Summary

The four masted iron ship 'Ulrica', 1972 tons, in an unidentified port [iron 4 mast ship, 1972 tons ON87399, 276.5 x 41.2 x 24.0. Built 1884 (1) Barclay, Curle and Co., Glasgow. Owners: Hendry, Ferguson and Co., registered Greenock, later Ulrica Ship Co. Ltd. Ferguson and Letham. Wrecked Jan.7, 1897 New Zealand, with a cargo of bagged barley when on her voyage from San Francisco to Dublin, via Queenstown].

One of the ships owned by Ferguson and Lathom, Greenock.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
